Council bans cliche for fear of causing offence
A council has banned the phrase 'singing from the same hymn sheet' because the age-old saying might offend atheists.
Workers at Salisbury Town Hall, in Wiltshire can no longer utter the ancient cliche because its religious connotations could hurt the feelings of unbelievers.
Executive director of the National Secular Society Keith Porteous Wood said he was not hurt by the phrase, which he used himself.
Salisbury Council leader Paul Sample said said that the document was an 'own goal' which would be investigated.
