Enjoy it on video: Whitby Regatta
Around 10,000 people packed into the seaside town of Whitby to enjoy one of Yorkshire's best loved spectacles - the annual regatta. Share the occasion with this specially shot Yorkshire Post film.
Ivor Greer, vice president of Whitby Regatta, said: "The weather has been kind to us and the number of people turning up for the event is tremendous.
"The Regatta is a lovely community thing and it gives people the feel good factor. With all the doom and gloom around it's nice we can put on a family show."
Around 20 police officers patrolled the town to prevent a repeat of last year's drunken violence.
A new dispersal order gives police the power to move on people gathering in groups from the area for 24 hours. If they return they will be arrested. This year security was further beefed up by the issue of head-mounted cameras to provide digital imagery which can be used as evidence
Inspector Dave Barf of Whitby Police said there had been just one arrest over the weekend, after a man was caught allegedly being drunk and disorderly.
A regatta highlight is the series of rowing races between Whitby's rival Fishermen's and Friendship clubs, starting out at sea and moving into harbour. The Yorkshire Post filmed one race with a seaborne camera and you can watch highlights by clicking the PLAY button above.
