Enjoy it on video: York's outdoor nativity
The Christmas story unfolded for shoppers when the York city centre churches open air nativity play returned to King's Square.
This traditional event featured the pupils of St Barnabas School and local clergy with Cruckley Animal Farm from Driffield providing the sheep, goats and donkeys.
The performance was in a number of acts: No room at the inn, the stable, the visit of the shepherds and the arrival of the three wise men bearing their gifts.
The Archdeacon of York, the Venerable Richard Seed, said: 'This traditional nativity play is an important part of the York city centre Christmas celebrations and is enjoyed by the children, clergy and everyone involved.'
