Famine-hit Ethiopia gets tips on healthy eating
A FIRM is launching a new DVD to tackle obesity, smoking and drinking in Ethiopa, a country more often associated with famine and hunger.
A filmmaker and doctor from Huddersfield says affluent Ethiopians risk obesity, heart disease and diabetes thanks to fast food, excessive drinking and smoking.
The DVD is the idea of filmmaker John Edmonds and public health expert Dr Dawit Mengistu and aims to educate people on healthy eating.
Mr Edmonds, director of Time Tripper filmmakers, said: "The average Ethiopian knows little of the dangers of fast food, lack of exercise, high-fat food and the like and the amount of public information on this issues in the Ethiopian language is rare."
The pair hope the work will be distributed around Africa. Five per cent of sales will go to Ethiopian orphanage.
