Farming exhibition to focus on challenges of the future
FARMERS and growers are being invited to an exhibition next week which aims to help their business adapt to the impact of climate change, sustainability and other challenges facing the industry.
The third annual Masstock Smart Farm Exhibition is being held in the Olympic-standard equine arena at Bishop Burton College on Thursday, February 9.
Speakers will include National Famers’ Union vice-president Meurig Raymond, Nick Oakhill of Greencore and wheat genetics expert Bill Angus.
College principal Jeanette Dawson said: “The event is offering a programme of speakers who will give delegates a real insight into how business leaders are preparing for the challenges facing the industry.
“They will hear about how research and development can deliver tangible benefits, alternative energy sources and market dynamics as well as genetics. I think the programme will lead to lively debate and plenty of new ideas for attendees to think about.”
There will also be displays of machinery and of agrochemical manufacturers, plant breeders, precision agronomy and mobile seed cleaning, as well as the chance to attend a range of specialist lectures.
Last year’s event was attended by Countryfile presenter Adam Henson. To attend call Hazel Dawson on 01759 301144.
