Former Test stars to host night of grumpy fun

Two well-known former England Test cricketers are to appear at a North Yorkshire hotel in a presentation entitled Grumpy Old Bowlers.

Derek Pringle, Angus Fraser and journalist Peter Hayter will visit the Black Swan Hotel in Helmsley on Thursday, July 17

Pringle played Test cricket for England for 10 years, making his professional debut at Lord's against India in 1982. He scored 695 runs and took 70 wickets in 30 Tests.

Fraser is widely regarded as one the most controlled

and consistent bowlers of the 1990s.

A Middlesex player, his first-class career ran from 1984 to 2002 and included 8 for 75 against the West Indies in the 1993-94 Test.

They will be joined for the evening by cricket correspondent for The Mail on Sunday Peter Hayter, who has ghost written autobiographies for leading cricketers, including Phil Tufnell and Ian (now Sir Ian) Botham.

The trio promise an evening of anecdotes, chat and reminiscence for cricket lovers of all ages, with guests also enjoying a three course dinner and coffee.

Tickets for Grumpy Old Bowlers, priced at 40 per person, are available from the Black Swan Hotel by calling 01439 770466.
