Frock and role
Award-winning ‘costume player’ Natasha Lee Tyler appears as Marie Antoinette at yesterday’s launch of the forthcoming entertainment expo Platform 2012 at Hull University.
Ms Tyler – who uses the stage name Missy Tetra – will be leading three sessions at the expo on March 17 and 18, where people can find out all about the fantastical world of ‘cosplay’, short for ‘costume play’, a type of performance art where people don costumes to represent characters, from the real or virtual world.
Characters are often drawn from Japanese fiction, but can be from computer games, cartoons and science fiction.
Ms Tyler said: “This is the first ever cosplay masquerade on stage in Hull and it will put us on the convention calendar as well as opening the city’s potential to a national audience.”
