Group on song to highlight the dangers of knife crime

A GROUP of actors and top sportsmen spent yesterday in a Sheffield studio to record a charity song against knife crime.

The collaboration, called UK Flow, includes world champion boxers Johnny Nelson and Junior Witter and has the support of Sheffield Central MP Richard Caborn, pop stars Girls Aloud and players from the England football and rugby squads.

The group hopes to raise money for a number of knife crime charities across the country with the song, which was the idea of actor Stephen Nicholas, who starred in Sky's football drama Dream Team.

Mr Nicholas, 30, said: "We just want to raise awareness... our only motive is to stop kids dying. Every single community around the country is having the same problems with knife crime."

He joined with Nelson and Witter, Casualty actors Luke Bailey and Elyes Gabel, former Hollyoaks star Lee Otway, DJ and presenter Marvyn Williams, singer Steve Edwards and singing teacher Ali Heath Cook to record the song at the city's Yellow Arch Studios in Sheffield.

Mr Caborn was present for the recording of the song, as yet unnamed.
