Hogwarts Express set to sparkle

muggles at the National Railway Museum in York pulled on their overalls and set to work scrubbing the Hogwarts Express yesterday ahead of its starring role in Wizard Week.

Olton Hall, the steam locomotive that appeared in the Harry Potter movies, was preened and polished by museum staff in preparation for the nine-day celebrations, which will take place over February half-term.

The magical train will be the star attraction alongside broomstick flying, daily wizard duels, owl displays and a talking dragon on February 11-19.

Efstathios Tsolis, the museum’s conservation manager, said: “A lot of hard work and elbow grease goes in to preparing our railway vehicles for big events, especially for a famous locomotive like Olton Hall which regularly operates on the mainline.”
