The Government tables were finally produced today – three months later than normal – following the marking fiasco surrounding the standard assessment tests last year.
They reveal that Rotherham has the lowest score in the region for the number of pupils who have achieved the expected level in Key Stage Two tests in English, maths and science.
The South Yorkshire council is ranked 12th from bottom in the country with around a quarter of the town's pupils failing to reach the minimum standard in English and maths.
Today's tables will also show that the school making the least impact on its pupil's performance is based in Yorkshire, and that the region also has 25 of the lowest-scoring primary schools in the country.
Highfields Primary School in Doncaster is set to finish bottom in a league table which measures schools on their contextual value added score (CVA). The CVA aims to show what impact a school has on its pupils by measuring their performance against their test scores in previous years and the test scores of children from similar backgrounds. Using this measure the region has three schools among the 10 worst in the country with Highfields bottom; Bude Park, in Hull, fourth from bottom; and Ward Green Primary in Barnsley 10th from bottom.
Highfields Primary is also set to be the lowest-ranked primary school in Yorkshire based on the number of pupils achieving level four in their key stage two standard assessment tests.
Hull will be ranked 15th worst education authority in the country with 25 per cent of pupils failing to make the grade in both English and maths while Bradford is set to be 16th from botttom and Sheffield the country's 17th worst.
Sheffield has moved from its position last year as Yorkshire's worst performer. The latest test scores will show that 77 per cent of the city's pupils reached level four in English and 74 per cent made the grade in Maths.
Barnsley is set to be ranked as Yorkshire's fifth-lowest performing authority with 77 per cent of pupils making the grade in English and 76 per cent reaching the expected level in maths.
Elsewhere in the region staff and pupils will have reason to celebrate with Calderdale set to be named 14th from top in a league table of 150 education authorities across the country.
Last year the district saw 85 per cent of pupils make the grade in English, 84 per cent in maths and 91 per cent in science.
Elsewhere education bosses in Bradford hailed today's tables as record results for the district.
Two years ago the city's education authority was ranked second worst in the country.
However the city has now moved up 14 places and seen 12 of its schools in the top five per cent nationally for the amount of progress pupils made between the ages of seven and 11-years-old.
John Gaskin, managing director of Education Bradford, the company responsible for raising standards in the city's school said: "These Key Stage Two results are great news for Bradford's primary schools.
"These record results mean that hundreds more 11-year-olds have gained a good result at Key Stage Two and we expect this to translate into good examination results later in their school life. I want to congratulate all those who have played a part in this successful outcome - the hardworking pupils and teachers along with the support from parents."
