Hunt for missing student widens
THE search for a missing student is being extended across Yorkshire after addresses in Bradford, Bridlington and York were found on the satellite navigation system in his car.
Police are working on the assumption that Russell Bohling, 18, is alive and may be with someone he arranged to meet when he left home in West Ella, near Hull, at 8am on Tuesday, March 2.
His blue Renault Clio was found 45 miles away in the car park of Bempton Cliffs nature reserve, near Bridlington, almost full of fuel and with 471 miles on the mileometer, which his family believe was reset the previous night.
Police have now revealed the second-year construction student at Bishop Burton College, near Beverley, had got up nearly 30 minutes earlier than usual, at 7.20am, the day he went missing and was dressed as if he was going for a night out.
They appealed for help in establishing his movements in a five-hour period when he was out in the car on the Saturday night before he went missing.
Chief Supt Paul Davison, divisional commander for the East Riding, said: "We are keeping an open mind but the point now is that he could be anywhere in the country.
"I would have expected to have found a body by now if he had gone into the sea.
"His confidence had grown immeasurably because he had just passed his driving test and was doing extremely well at college.
"It could be that he's gone to meet someone and is being secretive, as 18-year-olds can be.
"It could be he's gone with his own discretion, or he could be with somebody against his will."
Russell is about 5ft 8in tall, of medium build, has short, brown hair and was last seen wearing a black Ben Sherman jacket, blue jeans and black leather trainers.
