Lecturers go on strike at college
LECTURERS at a West Yorkshire college took to the picket lines yesterday in a long-running pay dispute.
About 60 staff walked out of Leeds College of Art and Design when it was targeted for strike action by University and College Union (UCU) members yesterday.
The union claims the college has failed to honour a pay deal agreed over four years ago.
UCU member Richard Miles, who teaches at the college, said: "We regret having to taken this action, but we think it's unfair that our pay is being kept down."
Principal Simone Wonnacott said the college operated normally throughout yesterday.
The strike is part of a national UCU campaign.
