Life on Mars actor to play Hamlet
LIFE on Mars star John Simm will make his debut at Sheffield's revamped Crucible Theatre next year when he takes on the role of Shakespeare's Hamlet.
The Leeds-born actor, who played the role of Sam Tyler in the BBC's hit time-travelling crime drama series, will be appearing in the production next September.
Mr Simm has won praise for his stage roles in the West End. Daniel Evans, the new artistic director at Sheffield Theatres, said: "It's one of those roles that every actor wants to tackle at some point.
