Man fined for hunting
A SKIPTON man and a man from Penrith have each been fined £200 for hunting a fox with a dog and causing a dog to enter a badger sett.
William Smith, 27, of Keighley Road, and John Joseph Bowman, 19, of Lakeland View, Greengill, Penrith, pleaded guilty to both charges before Carlisle magistrates.
The pair were arrested by Cumbria police officers on land near Towcett after they were disturbed by a member of the public whilst digging in to a badger sett. They had four muddy dogs with them.
