Man charged over prison officer attack at Armley Jail
A MAN has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after a prison officer was seriously injured, police said today.
The prison officer suffered a head injury on Tuesday evening at Armley Prison in Leeds.
West Yorkshire Police said a 39-year-old man had been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and would appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on May 7.
A police spokeswoman said a 25-year-old man had been charged with assisting an offender and would appear at the same court on the same day.
The prison officer, 49, was taken to Leeds General Infirmary where he was treated for his injuries.
