Nell promotes breastfeeding
The model and star of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, Nell McAndrew launched a pioneering breastfeeding group in Halifax yesterday.
She joined a group of Halifax mums to launch the first iwantmymum.com community group for "Breastfeeding Beyond Babyhood".
As mum to 20-month-old Devon, McAndrew was able to relate her experiences of breastfeeding her baby beyond nine months, the theme of the new group.
The Halifax breastfeeding group is the first in the planned nationwide roll-out of community groups by the parenting website. Set up four years ago by Halifax-based Charlotte Young together with columnist Annalisa Barbieri, the site aims to provide parents with access to the research, health professionals and breastfeeding support.
"The idea came about because, having had children the year before, we were surprised and frustrated at the conflicting information on the important subject of bringing up baby," said Miss Young.
The first meeting was held at Costa Coffee and will be run by Miss Young along with mother Celia Moore. A regular venue has yet to be confirmed.
