Opportunity to boost CV at historic manor

Managers at a North Yorkshire stately home are hoping a new recruitment drive will attract young volunteers who will be able to use their experience to boost their CVs.

Beningborough Hall and Gardens, just outside York, will open on February 4 and 7 in a bid to encourage new volunteers to sign up for the upcoming season.

And while volunteers of all ages are being welcomed to the National Trust property, bosses are encouraging young people over the age of 18 to get involved in the diverse range of opportunities on offer.

Visitor services assistant, Toria Morris, who started out as a volunteer for the National Trust, said: “Volunteering is great experience to boost a CV, for people returning to work or for those keen to learn new skills.”

Roles range from helping to upkeep Beningbrough’s stunning gardens to restoration work within the Georgian mansion. Quirkier roles include costume interpratation volunteers bring the story of Beningbrough to life by dressing in period costume.

Jackie Igoe, volunteer programme manager, added: “Each new volunteer brings their own skills or attributes to a role and that is what really makes a visitor’s day.”

Staff and current volunteers will share their experiences at the recruitment open days, which run from 10am to 2pm.
