Parade demonstrators say they stand by actions
Protesters who marred a homecoming parade by soldiers returning from Iraq remained unrepentant yesterday as they hit the streets again.
The same group which demonstrated at the parade by the 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment in Luton on Tuesday yesterday handed out leaflets criticising the "racist and discriminate nature of the British public".
A small group of men gathered in the main street of the Bury Park area of Luton, near to two of the town's biggest mosques.
The group stood by their actions and handed out leaflets. A statement about Tuesday's incident, given to people as they walked by, said: "The fallacy of freedom has been completely exposed.
"When it comes to the non-Muslims, whether it be the Government, media or people in general hurling abuse at Islam and Muslims, we are expected to accept it as freedom of speech.
"There is no limit to the abuse the Muslims have to tolerate.
"But as soon as Muslims wish to express their views under freedom of speech, they become labelled as extremist and vilified, even though no law was broken."
