Partner baffled over fate of missing builder
THE partner of a missing East Yorkshire man says she is baffled by his disappearance.
Self-employed builder Glen Fry, 45, was last seen at 6.45am on Thursday, May 14, when he left his home in Raven Spurn Road, Patrington Haven, for work. He did not take his mobile phone, passport, wallet or the medication he regularly needs to take for diabetes.
Police say they are becoming "increasingly concerned" for his welfare, while Marie Casey, his partner of almost 18 years, has described his disappearance as "very strange". She said: "He'd just taken three weeks off work and was doing his paperwork and jobs around the house, he seemed happy.
"It's just so out of character. We have only got to be apart for a day and we are ringing each other up during the day.
"We live in the country and he was going to build a chicken run. We were laughing about it because it's like The Good Life.
"There was absolutely nothing to suggest why he would suddenly disappear."
Miss Casey, 35, said she began to worry when she realised Mr Fry had failed to turn up at his local pub, the Burns Head, for his regular Thursday night pool match. She made a direct appeal for him to make contact.
She said: "Just please get in touch wherever you are. If you are in trouble or there's a problem we can sort it out. If you don't want to come home just ring your family and let us know you are safe."
One line of inquiry is that he may have travelled to the west of Scotland where the couple often took holidays. Det Insp Pete Francis said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Mr Fry. We believe Mr Fry could be driving a silver-coloured Jeep Grand Cherokee – YL51 YLB."
Mr Fry is white, 5ft 8in, slim and has a shaven head. He was last seen wearing a blue fleece, blue jeans and brown trainers.
Police also renewed efforts to find an 80-year-old Hull man who has been missing for a month. Relatives of Michael Conboy accompanied officers handing out leaflets near his home in Saxcourt in the Orchard Park area of the city. Mr Conboy is 5ft 4in to 5ft 5in, very slim and balding with grey hair.
