Police crackdown on young drinkers
YOUNG people getting involved in alcohol-fuelled disorder in Hull are being targeted over the next six weeks.
From Thursday until the end of August, police will use a dedicated patrol car to respond to any reports of youths drinking and causing trouble, anywhere outside the usual city centre hotspots. Two police officers and an alcohol worker from Hull Citysafe will work together throughout the school summer holidays.
They will confiscate alcohol, challenge behaviour and issue fixed penalty notices for disorder.
Sgt Mick Stevenson said: "Many young people can get themselves in to trouble during the summer holidays just because they drink alcohol.
"We don't want to see young people coming in to police custody and being locked in a cell, we want them to enjoy the holidays.
"These extra patrols will hopefully stop any problems before they start."
