Rival rugby codes in run challenge
WHO'S the fastest and fittest, rugby league or rugby union players?
Teams from rugby's rival codes are challenged to go head to head for the Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10K on Sunday June 21.
It will be a race to see which team can raise the most money as well as a test of fitness.
Rugby clubs across the region are being urged to take part in a Battle of the Codes: Rugby League vs Rugby Union Run for Rugby Challenge.
Yesterday Leeds Rhinos legend Barry McDermott and England and British Lions hero John Bentley helped launch the challenge.
Prizes will be awarded to the rugby club team with the fastest collective time, the best fancy dress and which raises the most money for their chosen charity.
Bentley said: "The League v Union debate has gone on for over a century and now we get the chance to settle it once and for all!"
McDermott added: "I am sure the Rugby League public will come out and support the teams running for their code."
The Leeds 10K, now in its third year, was set up by the late Jane Tomlinson, who herself raised over 1.85m for charity.
Fans will be able to find out how they can sponsor the teams at www.leedsrugby.com and for more information see www.runforall.com
