Rock band's guitarist suffers stroke at 25
MEMBERS of a Yorkshire rock band have been forced to cancel an appearance at this weekend's Glastonbury Festival after their 25-year-old guitarist suffered a stroke.
Musician Dorian Cox, who is also the main songwriter for Sheffield band The Long Blondes, was taken to hospital in the city on June 9 in what his band mates described as a "serious condition".
The group immediately pulled out of their appearance at Glastonbury following the shock, and have now been forced to cancel a series of international tour dates.
Yesterday, the band's website said Cox was still in hospital in Sheffield, and although he is said to be "improving slowly", it is understood that he has lost movement in some parts of his body.
It is believed that the critically-acclaimed group's front woman, Kate Jackson, has been to visit him, along with fellow band members.
A band statement released yesterday confirmed the group had cancelled all their live commitments up to the end of next month, leaving fans expecting to see the group this weekend disappointed.
The statement added: "Dorian is improving slowly and we will keep you updated on his condition. If you would like to leave a message on MySpace, Facebook, or through the website, we would be glad to pass them on to him when we visit."
The band had been due to support 80s icons Duran Duran this month at concerts in London and Birmingham.
