Sadistic rapist chopped head off victim's pet

A sadistic rapist who cut off the head of a lizard and put it in his victim's mouth in front of her young son has been locked up indefinitely.

Mansoor Shah, 18, and his 17-year-old accomplice Stefan Reed subjected the woman and her son to a shocking five-hour ordeal.

A judge yesterday lifted a reporting ban on the identities of the rapists as Bradford Crown Court heard sickening details of the attack last November.

The victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was raped by both teenagers – both armed with knives – after they broke into her West Yorkshire home.

Her young son repeatedly pleaded with the youths not to hurt his mother and witnessed most of the gratuitous violence carried out by Shah, but the court heard he was taken to another room while his mother was raped in turns by the duo.

Peter Moulson, prosecuting, described how Shah threatened to "slice up" the terrified woman and tried to get her to drink bleach before cutting off the head of a pet lizard.

Shah tried to feed the head of the animal to a dog, but then put it in the woman's mouth in front of her son.

The mother and child had their hands tied by Shah and he attacked the woman with his fists and a claw hammer.

He also tried to get her to drink bubble bath.

While the youths were ransacking the house the mother managed to untie herself and her son. She went downstairs believing the intruders had gone, but they were still in the house and she was taken back to a bedroom where she was raped by each of the teenagers.

Judge Jonathan Rose praised the victim's courage in not screaming out while she was being raped in order not to cause her child more distress.

While the two attackers were in the kitchen the woman managed to flee barefoot from the house with her son.

Shah, of Glenlee Road, Lidget Green, Bradford, was locked up indefinitely for public protection after Judge Rose described his conduct as "savage".

The court heard that both youths had been drinking and taking drugs prior to the premeditated and planned attack.

In her victim impact statement the woman said: "I felt they thought it was one big game especially Shah. He was thriving on how scared I was. It was like he got excited the more scared I was. He was getting a buzz off it. The same with Stefan until near the end."

The pair pleaded guilty earlier this year to offences of rape and aggravated burglary.

Shah will have to serve a minimum of six years in jail and will only be released from custody when the authorities are satisfied he no longer poses a risk to the public.

Reed, of Lister Avenue, West Bowling, Bradford, was sent to detention for nine years and must serve half of that sentence.

Both will have to register as sex offenders for the rest of their lives.
