Sam's new book takes a poke at his life
SAM Walton is one of the East Riding's most famous (and he would probably add infamous) farming characters.
Hailing from Northumberland settled in the East Riding (allowing a bit of latitude for his Linconshire exploits) when just 11 years old.
He became a farmer then made himself into a journalist, then an editor and world traveller.
His stories and views are regularly made known to readers of Pig World, and occasionally Farming in Yorkshire (when Chris bothers to ring me I hear him add quickly) but now he's written his memoirs titled PIG IN A POKE: The Ramblings of a Country Peasant.
If you'd like a copy and it really is good value, with plenty of Sam's usual 'no holds barred' commentary, particularly about his father, and a farm foreman, contact: Sam on 01430 810597
