Sparkling result in pancake race
Greg Ient, 16, from Northallerton, yesterday won the town's reinstated pancake race among traders and businesses.
The staff member of electrical retailer Maxwell's of Northallerton joined 40 runners as the pancake race returned to the town after a 20-year absence due to health and safety fears.
The race was started by Northallerton resident Andrew Coulthard, 38, who won it the last time the race was held in 1990.
He said: "We had to move the course from the market street to local playing fields. But it was great to see the race happening again.
"It's a brilliant tradition for us all to maintain."
