Teenager in Porsche theft from footballer
A TEENAGER who stole a Premier League footballer's Porsche 997 GT2 after he went absent without leave from the Army Foundation College in Harrogate received a suspended custody sentence at York Crown Court.
Stuart Watson, 18, stole keys to a BMW, Land Rover and Porsche when he burgled the Harrogate home of the German international and Stoke City defender Robert Huth, 25, who was on holiday.
Robert Galley, prosecuting, said Watson, who also stole 7,000 of electrical goods and jewellery belonging to Huth – then a Middlesbrough player – crashed the car and called a taxi.
Watson, of Bexleyheath, Kent, admitted aggravated vehicle taking, driving without insurance and burglary.
His barrister, Christopher Smith, said: "He was not the brains, he was the fall guy. Others have evaded responsibility."
The Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst sentenced Watson, who had spent nearly four months in prison on remand, to 12 months in a young offenders' centre, suspended for two years.
He disqualified him from driving for three years.
