Tickets go on sale for music festival
Tickets are now available for Bingley Music Live, which is gearing up for what could be its best year yet with a host of new attractions.
Now in its sixth year, there has already been a strong level of interest in the Bradford Council- run festival. One thousand early bird weekend tickets sold out in record time. Last year’s sell-out event attracted capacity crowds of 46,500.
The festival, which is becoming a red-letter event for northern music fans, will be held at Myrtle Park in Bingley from Friday, August 31 until Sunday, September 2.
This year it will increase its commitment to promoting upcoming talent with a new stage dedicated to local bands. It will also offer the opportunity for two acts from schools across the district to perform on stage via a battle of the bands competition.
Also new for 2012, Bingley Music Live has partnered up with Live and Unsigned, which is the country’s largest national music competition for unsigned acts to perform live. The contest’s champion will win a slot at the festival, along with a string of other live dates, and there are £100,000 worth of prizes to be won.
In addition, the festival’s popular second stage and family area, will be developed and there will be continuing opportunities for bands to perform via the Bingley Music Live Beckons battle of the bands competition.
Tickets for the weekend, which cost £45 plus booking fee, are available on-line via the Bingley Music Live website www.bingleymusiclive.com.
Coun Andrew Thornton, Bradford Council’s executive member responsible for leisure, said: “This year’s festival promises to be the best yet and it is testament to its growing reputation that 1,000 early bird weekend tickets sold out in record time. The first round of bands will be announced very soon, along with further details of what looks set to be another fantastic year for Bingley Music Live.”
