Video: Tomlinson family launch Peak District Walk For All
High-flying Rebecca Tomlinson got a bird’s eye view of this year’s Peak District Walk for All route – from the top of a zip wire.
The 24-year-old daughter of inspirational fundraiser Jane Tomlinson was officially launching the 2013 Peak District Walk, which is supported by the Yorkshire Post and is back for a second year after a successful debut in 2012.
Entries are now open for the Sunday, April 28 event organised by Jane Tomlinson’s For All Events. More than 1,000 people are expected to take part.
Rebecca said: “The zip wire was brilliant fun. The view from the top was amazing – our walkers really have a treat in store.
“It was great to come to the Peak District. It brings back great memories because we used to come here on holidays when we were children.”
Those taking part in the Peak District Walk will tackle three different courses – one for all abilities – from the 25-mile Dambuster to the 14-mile Hope and Glory route and the more modest five-mile Mini Trekker, taking in sights such as the Edale Valley, Jacobs Ladder, and Mam Tor.
As well as the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, it will raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support, Edale Mountain Rescue, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, the Breast Cancer Campaign, Diabetes UK, Heart Research UK, the RSPCA, Sheffield Hospitals and Cash for Kids.
The Peaks walk is one of three Walk for All events, and keen ramblers can also sign up for all three with new season ticket deals offered in the charity’s 2013 programme. Visit walkforall.com to sign up.
