Well body man seen on CCTV cameras

DETECTIVES have released CCTV images of Ian Clark, whose body was discovered at the bottom of a 60ft well at Pontefract Castle.

Mr Clark's death is being treated as suspicious and police want anyone with information to come forward.

Detectives revealed that CCTV cameras spotted Mr Clark, 42, a father-of-four known locally as Geordie, early on Saturday, October 27 in Pontefract.

He left Big Fellas nightclub with two men at 3.10am. Images from CCTV cameras show Mr Clark alone on Front Street near Jubilee Way at 3.21am.

Further images show him, again alone, in the rear car park of Marks & Spencer walking towards Market Place at 4.05am.

He is then seen walking alone along Horsefair near the bus station at 4.11am – approximately three minutes' walk from the castle. A car is seen driving along Horsefair as Mr Clark walks along the street and detectives urge the driver to come forward.

A security guard discovered his body on October 30. The well where his body was found is covered by a heavy gate.

Det Supt Steve Payne said: "We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the areas that Ian was at the times featured on the CCTV images."
