Winter deep clean for historic hall

AN historic home in Halifax is being spruced up for the New Year.

For two weeks from January 4, trained conservation staff will be going about the annual deep clean of Shibden Hall and its collections.

While the hall is quiet for the winter months, a variety of special tools and techniques are put in place to help look after the hall and its contents.

But the hall is offering visitors the chance to discover how to look after their own historic objects on Wednesday, January 13, in a two-hour workshop, called "Caring for your Collectables".

Staff will demonstrate how they care for the Shibden collections, and there is an opportunity to take along special objects for cleaning advice.

Booking is essential and the cost is included in the usual admission price to the hall.
