Yorkshire rose in TV dance victory
SADIE Flower, from Leeds, has danced her way to success after she and partner Joseph Hall won the final of BBC's hit TV show Strictly Dance Fever. Joanne Ginley
The couple waltzed away with a cheque for 50,000 and a starring role with a touring dance company after winning over both the judges and viewers during the gruelling 11-week show, hosted by Graham Norton.
Sadie, 19, from Methley, a part-time tanning salon receptionist and mobile nail technician, was paired with Joseph Hall, 27, from Nottingham.
Last night she said: "I just cannot believe it.
"I've been dancing since I was four and going to a dance school up until recently. All I have ever wanted to do is to be a dancer."
Joseph added: "This competition has been a long, hard journey. We have had many ups and downs and winning this means everything to me and my family."
As part of the prize package the dance couple will spend a day behind the scenes of a top West End production with choreographer and Strictly Dance Fever judge Arlene Phillips and perform as backing dancers on Top of the Pops.
Sadie and Joseph performed a freestyle dance, the lindyhop and charleston in Saturday's final, which was contested by three couples.
They were whittled down from more than 80,000 people who applied to take part in the competition, open to non-professional dancers. Ten couples made it through to the main competition.
Each week they were put through their paces by dance coaches Kevan Allen and Vanessa Leagh Hicks, who guided them in the rules and basic steps of a variety of dance styles, including Cuban salsa, boogie woogie, Argentine tango, disco, lambada, lindyhop and jitterbug.
The judges then got to have their say on the performances before viewers voted on who was good enough to get through to the next show. Joseph and Sadie have won a contract with the Burn The Floor dance company and will start touring next year.
