IT IS a festive celebration with a little chill to it.
Award-winning artist Jamie Wardley has helped to create ice sculptures in the centre of Bradford in a display called The Children of the Snow.
More than 20 sculptures have been carved from blocks of ice and put on public display with some appearing to float on the water of the City Park Mirror Pool.
Bradford-born Mr Wardley, who is pictured checking the condition of the ice figure of Santa, came up with the idea for the display after writing a Christmas story about a boy’s idea to make people happy on Christmas Day which is illustrated with the sculptures.
The sculptures are made from blocks of ice that are carved with chainsaws to make the basic shape before razor sharp chisels are used to make the details. (JH1001/73f) Picture: James Hardisty.
