A MURAL painted in the style of a railway poster has been completed on the wall of the Central Tramway Company in Scarborough.

Ian Purshouse, chairman of the Central Tramway Company, said: “Our objective was to create a timeless image that celebrates all the good things we have in Scarborough. We were lucky to find some talented young people in the town to help realise our goal.”

He paid tribute to Adrian Riley and Charlotte Middleton, of Electric Angel Design, who designed the image, and Jason Beardsley, of Sign Experience, who did the painting.

Mr Riley said: “The image is in the distinctive style of Tom Purvis, a poster artist who inspired me to become a designer. He was one of four artists paid a retainer by the railway to produce posters exclusively for them.”

The mural is at the top of McBean Steps on the South Bay.
