Video: Tickets for ‘The Boss’ sell out in minutes

Waiting for Video...

He’s seen ‘The Boss’ perform more than 35 times all over the world - and will watch his icon perform in mainland Europe at least twice more this summer.

But that didn’t stop superfan Mark Colley queuing for 12 hours to ensure he was the first to get his hands on physical tickets for Bruce Springsteen’s sellout Leeds Arena gig.

Mark, a firefighter who lives in Dewsbury, was among hundreds of music fans who rushed to Leeds Town Hall to a ‘pop-up’ box office.

But while he and son Scott were left smiling, the same couldn’t be said for many more of the American rocker’s fans, who missed out after a rush for tickets online.

Tickets across all channels sold out in minutes.

Online allocations were showing as ‘sold out’ just two minutes after they went on sale at 9am.

Mark, who lives in Dewsbury, is celebrating his 51st birthday today, and said getting hold of the tickets was the perfect present.

“We went there at 9pm on Thursday night,” he said. “My son had tried to get the pre-sale tickets but then we decided to go to the temporary box office at the Town Hall.”

“I am an avid fan, as is my son,” Mark added. “He had no choice but to grow up with Bruce Springsteen. I introduced him at an early age and took him to his first concert for his 19th birthday.

“Springsteen is like my football team really. I first saw him in 1981 at the Manchester Apollo, and have seen him all over. But I am looking forward to seeing him at Leeds Arena, which looks phenomenal.

“I would not camp overnight for anybody else.”

Mark will demonstrate his devotion by watching The Boss in action at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on July 23 before rushing back for the Leeds gig on Wednesday, July 24.

“Every show is different,” he said. “He has written over 500 class songs, and he paints pictures with his lyrics.”
