Bets on in race for Jubilee city

BOOKMAKERS yesterday revealed the odds on Yorkshire towns winning city status for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Doncaster is fifth on the list of 25 towns, with odds of 14/1, while Goole is at 50/1 in a table drawn up by William Hill. Reading is the most heavily-backed town to receive the honour at 10/11. Middlesbrough is 10/1. Other outsiders at 50/1 are Corby, Northants, and Craigavon, Northern Ireland.
