‘Vicious attack’ on pensioner condemned
A PENSIONER was seriously injured after he was assaulted by three men while in York city centre with his mentally ill son.
North Yorkshire Police condemned the “vicious attack” on the 71-year-old man and appealed for witnesses to come forward.
The victim, from Leeds, suffered a fractured foot, a cut lip and lost several teeth when he was attacked by three men on Rougier Street.
He was making his way to a bus stop with his son, who suffers from a mental disorder, after a shopping trip when they were forced to step back onto the pavement to avoid an oncoming car.
The car slowed down and words were exchanged, and the victim was then attacked by three men who walked up and became involved in the row. The assault happened at about 8.45pm on Tuesday, January 31, but police only released details yesterday.
