Video: Santa in flying visit to Leeds children’s hospice
DELIGHTED children at a hospice in Yorkshire had a surprise visit from Father Christmas who left his reindeer at home to drop in by helicopter.
Yorkshire private aviation company Multiflight helped to make it a Christmas to remember for children and their families at Martin House Children’s Hospice at Boston Spa by providing the aircraft to fly Santa in with presents.
Sheila O’Leary, of the hospice, said: “Santa arriving in his helicopter was magical.
“The children were excited from the moment they got up and there were squeals of delight as soon as the helicopter was spied in the sky.
“Some of the children are too poorly or find it difficult to see Santa in his grotto and it was lovely to bring Santa to them.
“We want to say a big thank you to everyone involved.”
Linda Nicholls, of Multiflight which put Santa’s visit together with Leeds Bradford Airport, said: “It’s great to be able to help give the children, their families and hospice staff a special treat.”
Tony Hallwood, commercial director at the airport, said: “We wanted to make sure that the children have a wonderful Christmas with lots of presents and an extra special visit from Santa.
“It’s a really memorable and heartwarming trip for all involved.”
Martin House needs to raise £4.5m annually to run the service for children from across the region.
