Video: Autumn fashions (as worn by Jane Austen)
FROM Mr Darcy’s gleaming boots to Emma’s intricate high-waisted gowns, a Yorkshire stately home is exhibiting some of history’s most dashing fashions.
Revolutionary Fashion 1790-1820 at Fairfax House, York, will showcase exquisite costumes from the Regency period, which is synonymous with the heroes and heroines of Jane Austen, and includes the dresses pictured under the care of director and curator Hannah Phillip. The exhibition starts on Saturday and runs until December 31.
