Have your say

A 31-YEAR-OLD man was fighting for his life in hospital last night after being shot in the head in what police believe was a targeted attack.

The man was sat in a stationary white Audi A3 on Springwood Avenue, Huddersfield, at 9.30pm on Tuesday when he was shot. He was yesterday in critical condition in hospital.

Two other cars, a Mini and a VW Golf R32, which are believed to be involved in the incident, were found by police on Quarmby Road in Huddersfield and at Holthead Road at Slaithwaite.

Two men aged 35 and 24 were arrested in connection with the incident and were yesterday in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Taylor of West Yorkshire Police, said: “It appears that the victim was specifically targeted in what is an isolated incident and we are treating this as an attempted murder.

“I want to know if anyone remembers seeing a mini or a VW Golf travelling at high speed in and around the centre of Huddersfield on Tuesday night.

“Likewise, I would urge people to get in touch if they saw or heard anything suspicious, or have any information that could further assist our investigations.

“Overnight we have conducted house to house enquiries within the immediate area, these enquiries will continue today along with a detailed forensic examination of the scene.

“Neighbourhood Policing Team officers are also patrolling the area to speak to residents and offer any support they may require.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
