Aviation fans looking for a challenge have snapped up tickets to a unique night shoot to photograph Yorkshire Air Museum’s Halifax bomber,

The Museum at Elvington decided to host the event after they were swamped with requests to photograph the bomber, Friday the 13th, when a photograph of it at night appeared in an aviation magazine. Rather appropriately, the museum has planned the event for the evening of Friday March 13, and although they only went on sale before Christmas, more than half of the 100 tickets have already been sold.

As well as photographing the bomber, the museum’s WWII Douglas C-47 Dakota and the De Havilland Devon twin props, will also be there on the night to be photographed, with their engines running.

Ian Richardson, communications manager at the museum, said the “fabulous sight and sound” would present a challenging proposition for photographers.

Also in the frame on the night will be the De Havilland Mosquito Nightfighter, which will be out of the confines of the main display hanger for the event. To book visit www.timelineevents.org
