Beer to mark railway anniversary

Have your say

IT is an anniversary worth celebrating and a beer is being brewed to mark its significance.

The Leeds Brewery is creating a beer to mark 200 years since the Middleton Railway first welcomed steam engines. The brewery’s Middleton Pioneer will be available at the working railway’s 200 Years of Steam gala, on June 23 and 24, at the railway in Moor Road, Hunslet.

It will feature steam engines, tours and model railways as well as a chance to sample the ale. Sam Moss, co-founder of the brewery, left, seen with chairman of Middleton Railway Trust, Andrew Gill, said: “Not enough people realise the importance of this little piece of railway track.” The limited edition Middleton Pioneer will be sold at the gala and at Leeds Brewery pubs.
