Blades go to arbitration over West Ham row
Sheffield United has gone to arbitration over its long-running dispute with West Ham.
The dispute revolves around the Blades' relegation from the Premiership last season after West Ham beat champions Manchester United in their last game. The win meant they stayed up and Sheffield went down.
In the summer, the FA fined West Ham 5.5 million for irregularities over its purchase of Carlos Tevez, who scored seven goals in West Ham's last 10 games of the season.
But West Ham escaped a points deduction and the Blades failed in two appeals to force the FA to relegate the London club.
A statement from Sheffield United to the London Stock Exchange this morning said: "The Board of Sheffield United plc notes the recent press comment and confirms that Sheffield United FC is in an arbitration procedure under FA rules against West Ham United FC.
"The arbitration procedure is at an early stage and a further announcement will be made when appropriate."
