BANDS from across Yorkshire and beyond entertained hundreds of people in Brighouse yesterday.
The Brighouse Festival of Brass saw 26 bands taking part in the march and hymn tune contest.
Bands marched along Bethal Street before performing their competition pieces in Thornton Square in the centre of the town.
This year was the 14th running of the event which is organised by Brighouse Lions and has enjoyed a growing reputation over the years, becoming a staple of the brass band competition calendar alongside the Yorkshire Solo Championships which takes place later in the year.
The 2013 competition was full to capacity long before the event, attracting bands from Lancashire, Cheshire, the Midlands and North Wales.
Alongside the competition, the weekend featured a performance from the all-female band Boobs and Brass which raises thousands of pounds for the Breast Cancer Campaign charity. picture: Mark Bickerdike
