Casualties rushed to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries following Hawsker crash

Two female casualties have been rushed to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after a collision between a lorry and a car in Hawsker.

One was taken to James Cook University Hospital via air ambulance, while the other woman was taken by road ambulance.

Police were called at 7.46am this morning to reports of a collision on the A171 in Hawsker, involving two vehicles – an Iveco Eurocar lorry and a Renault Grand Scenic.

An air ambulance, along with fire crews from Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay and Malton attended the scene.

The road was closed as officers remained at the scene whilst they dealt with the collision.

It has now re-opened.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles before the crash is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101.
