CCTV images released after violence at Hull KR and Salford rugby match

Police have today released images of 12 people they want to identify after violent scenes at a rugby league match.

The appeal is part of the ongoing investigation into disorder at the Hull KR v Salford game on Saturday, October 1.

There was a pitch invasion involving supporters of both sets of teams at the full time whistle of the match.

A small number became involved in violence and disorder at that time.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Kirby, who has headed up the investigation, said: “Rugby league matches are great family occasions which very rarely result in any issues of disorder, which made the trouble at the end of this match all the more shocking.

"I appreciate that tensions were high following the result, which relegated Hull Kingston Rovers, however it is unacceptable this escalated to violence and disorder."

A number of people have already been arrested and interviewed by police.

Three men have already been issued summons for Section 4 public order and another man was cautioned for the same offence.

In addition two other men have been identified and are helping police with their enquiries.

But officers are turning to the public for help in identifying more of those who may have been involved.

Det Chief Insp Kirby said: “I would urge those pictured to get in touch with us as soon as possible or face the prospect of being arrested in front of family and friends at their home or work.
