Charges over death after fracas near Leeds pub

A MAN has appeared in court charged with manslaughter following the death of a man who was seriously injured in an incident outside a pub in Leeds.

Vincent Greaves, 24, appeared before Leeds Magistrates Court after 52-year-old Richard Davies died five days following the alleged attack in Yeadon.

Mr Davies, 52, had been in a coma since receiving a serious head injury in the early hours of Sunday May 31.

He died in hospital on Thursday in as a result of the injuries.

Greaves, of Silver Cross Way, Guiseley, spoke only to confirm his name and address when he appeared in the dock of the court.

The court heard Mr Davies had been in the Aviator pub, on High Street, Yeadon, shortly before he suffered the injuries.

The incident was captured on CCTV.

Mr Davies was knocked unconscious during the alleged attack.

A separate altercation took place minutes before Mr Davies was injured.

Greaves, who appeared in the dock wearing a grey sports sweater and blue jogging bottoms, was told the case would be committed to Leeds Crown Court.

He is likely to appear before the court via a video link from custody on June 19.

No application for bail was made and Graves was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Davies on social media websites.

Detectives are still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident itself or the circumstances leading up to it.
