A DELEGATION of wealthy Chinese investors visited Yorkshire yesterday to look at potential investment projects.

The group, from the China Innovation and Development Association, visited Huddersfield to look at a number of opportunities including the town’s world leading textiles industry.

The itinerary included a visit to the The Textile Centre of Excellence, a major conferencing, research and training facility, where they saw what is believed to be the world’s first Multiple Laser Surface Enhancement (MLSE) processing machine, which has the potential to revolutionise the textile processing industry.

The group also received a tour of Innovation Avenue, a group of laboratories and workshops for companies associated with Huddersfield University’s 3M Buckley Innovation Centre. The companies specialise in the engineering, product design, healthcare, pharmaceuticals & chemicals, and computer software & graphics sectors.

The trip also included a visit to the HD One development at John Smith Stadium and Kirklees College.
