Billington and Townend join forces at college
There is a chance to see two champions in action tomorrow evening at Bishop Burton College, when Geoff Billington and Oliver Townend join forces for what is billed as a fun evening full of tips, tricks and stories from their varied careers.
The pair began a series of lecture demonstrations across the UK last week.
Townend has had an exceptional season, winning both Badminton and Burghley, becoming the first Express Eventing champion and winning the HSBC FEI Classics series.
The Yorkshire rider, now based in Shropshire, is a member of our gold medal-winning European team.
He has won more than 3000,000 in major prize money during the past 12 months.
Show-jumper Billington has represented Great Britain at two Olympic Games, at Atlanta in 1996 and Sydney in 2000, riding his great horse It's Otto. The horse retired at Olympia in 2001.
Billington recently represented team GB at the European Championships at Windsor.
He is also a regular and popular competitor at the Great Yorkshire Show in the Cock o' the North Championship.
Billington has had an impressive tally of wins during his career, including the Hickstead Derby in 2007 and, most recently, the Hamburg Derby.

DID you know that if your saddle is stolen and then found, you must be able to identify it positively?
"A simple scratch or blemish is not sufficient proof of ownership," says Sharon Redfearn, who runs Bridleways Saddlery in Pontefract.
She says that many yards in the area have been targeted by thieves several times and that thousands of pounds-worth of tack has been stolen.
"There was even a 16ft field shelter stolen in broad daylight," says Sharon.
"The thieves broke down the fencing and left the mare and her foal wandering on the railway lines nearby."
West Yorkshire Police's Horsewatch scheme is working to prevent such thefts.
It operates rather like a Neighbourhood Watch scheme with members keeping each other informed through texts, emails and calls.
PC Nikki Charles will be at Bridleways Saddlery on Saturday morning to talk about the scheme and advise owners.
Also on hand will be Sarah Steel, of Yorkshire Saddlery Repairs, who will be offering micro-chipping and identity stamping for saddles.
Micro-chipping costs 19.99 and identity stamping is 7.
Bridleways Saddlery is at Unit 8, Tanshelf Industrial Estate, Pontefract WF8 4PJ.
THE British Open Show Jumping Championships in April will be hosting a new competition which will give gassroots riders a chance to compete at the four-star, international event.
The competition is for new and existing members of British Showjumping, British Riding Clubs and the Pony Club. If you are a member of either of the latter you must become a member of British Showjumping to be eligible.
Qualifying competitions will be held at selected BS shows during the winter season.
The qualifiers will be split into three separate classes, 128cms, 138cms and 148cms.
The winners from each class will form a team of three which will then be invited to compete at the British Open Show Jumping Championships in a team relay event.
Each team will be allocated a top international show-jumper to act as their coach and Chef d'Equipe.
Among the qualifiers are Laughton Manor EC in Lincolnshire on February 6; Stainsby Grange, County Durham, February 14 and Field House, Staffordshire, March 20. Contact British Showjumping on 02476 698805.
