Cricket latest: Yorkshire chase 403 for victory

YORKSHIRE need 403 for victory against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge after the home team were bowled out for 350 in their second innings on the stroke of tea.

Jacques Rudolph's men have four sessions to reach their target - or else hold out for a draw - following a disciplined batting performance by Chris Read's team.

Yorkshire captured six wickets in an eventful afternoon session as Nottinghamshire endeavoured to post quick runs.

Leg-spinner Adil Rashid claimed four of them, including that of England off-spinner Graeme Swann, who thumped 57 from 73 balls with six fours and a six before being stumped by wicketkeeper Gerard Brophy.

Samit Patel was caught at second slip by Rudolph off Tim Bresnan for a well-made 60 as Nottinghamshire slipped to 265-5 after resuming after the break on 232-4.

Chris Read was caught in the gully off Rashid, Paul Franks and Andre Adams bowled by the leg-spinner and Mark Ealham caught at long-off off Matthew Hoggard as Nottinghamshire lost their last five wickets for 45 runs.

Rashid finished with 4-96 from 33 overs after bowling diligently without reward earlier in the day, while Hoggard stuck to his guns on his way to figures of 3-62.

Earlier in the day, overseas star Rana Naved-ul-Hasan had to leave the field with a sore neck.

Rana bowled the first three balls of the day from the Pavilion End before having to go off.

Deon Kruis completed Rana's over and, from the last ball, claimed one of only two wickets to fall during the morning when Mark Wagh was adjudged lbw for 60.

Patel and Adam Voges added 78 after Nottinghamshire resumed on 146-2 before the latter was lbw to Tim Bresnan for 43 five minutes before the break.

Earlier, Voges was dropped on 24 by Adam Lyth at third slip off Bresnan.
