Bank card thieves conned their way into Rotherham pensioner's home

TWO thieves conned their way into a 66-year-old woman's home in Rotherham before stealing her bank card which they later used to withdraw cash.

Police said a woman spoke to the pensioner outside her home in Wood Close, Ravenfield, and asked her for directions to the motorway during the incident at around 3pm on Tuesday May 3.

The victim is understood to have invited the woman inside. The woman produced a map and placed it on the table over the victim’s handbag.

A man then entered the house and joined the woman.

The victim was later contacted by her bank and informed that money had been withdrawn from her account. She checked her handbag and discovered her bank card was missing.

Police believe the couple, who spoke with foreign accents, may have been watching the victim while she was shopping in the Bramley area of Rotherham earlier that day.

Officers want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area earlier this week.

The woman is described as being around 5ft 2in tall, in her mid-30s with olive skin and shoulder length black hair. She was wearing dark coloured clothing.
